Ongoing Projects:

Back Bay Mission. WCC has partnered with Back Bay Mission, a faith-based organization working on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, to develop affordable housing in hurricane-affected areas of East Biloxi. This work initially focused on designing and implementing a housing business plan that included a needs assessment, financing sources, and the initiation of rehabilitation and new construction projects. Building on this work, Alembic and Back Bay Mission are now implementing the Bethel Estates development in Pass Christian, Mississippi, under a contract from the Mississippi Development Authority.

Community League of the Heights (CLOTH). WCC is part of a collaborative group developing the Lucille BulgerCommunity Center, a 75,000 square foot facility in Washington Heights that includes the Community Health Academy of the Heights, a 567-seat New Visions high school for grades six through twelve. The project is led by CLOTH and includes New Visions, New York Presbyterian Hospital, Community Healthcare Network, and the New York City Department of Education. WCC has provided financial analysis and development budgets for the facility, and has worked to identify and secure project funding.

Hope Community Development Agency. WCC is working with the East Biloxi organization to design and implement its affordable housing program for the ongoing rebuilding of the neighborhood following Hurricane Katrina. This work includes designing a scattered site homeownership program, identifying properties and financing for rehabilitation and new construction, and exploring rental housing opportunities. WCC also partnered with Architecture for Humanity to establish a community design studio that provides targeted architectural assistance to residents in their rebuilding efforts. Alembic and Hope CDA are currently implementing a new construction and home rehabilitation program under a contract from the Mississippi Development Authority.

Mid-Bronx Senior Citizens Council (Mid-Bronx SCC). WCC is assisting Mid-Bronx SCC with developing a housing and community center project in the Concourse Village neighborhood of the Bronx that includes 59 units of affordable senior housing as well as childcare and other vital community services. Mid-Bronx SCC provides a comprehensive range of housing and social services to enhance the quality of life for residents of the South Bronx. WCC has provided financial analysis, development budgets, general project management, referrals for zoning and architectural analyses, and networked the organization with City funding agencies.

Providence House. WCC is working with Providence House, a non-profit organization committed to providing shelter and support to homeless, abused and formerly incarcerated women and their children in a hospitable, non-violent, and compassionate atmosphere. The development team is planning to provide over 30 units of supportive housing to women re-entering the community after a period of incarceration.
